I have always been very careful with the toys that i get for the kids. Most of the time i will buy from reputable brands. Of course, reputable and big brands doesnt mean that issues like toxic levels, lead paint etc won't happen. However, i guess, these brands have more to lose when their toys does not pass the safety standards.

Dear hubby is the one who is more cool about getting cheap toys from the shops. And i mean really cheap toys. An entire Airport set which is Made in China for just $10. And who doesnt have these toys? At the end of the day, we can argue till the cows come home on this topic. Cheap ≠ no good. Made in China ≠ no good. Expensive ≠ good.

However, just wish to highlight to all parents that we do have to be careful with regards to the toys that we buy for our kids. We should actually educate our children when they are of age of this matter too. In this article, 17 children were hospitalised in Feb 2010 with vomiting and diarrhoea after playing with a toy that contain excessive levels of phthalates.
